The Recall

Fresh Ideation Food Group, LLC located in Baltimore, Maryland is recalling products sold between January 24, 2023 and January 30, 2023 because they may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall was initiated after company samples tested positive for the bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The products were distributed in various states including Connecticut, D.C., Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia. The recalled products were sold in retail locations, vending machines and during travel with transportation providers. There are a wide variety of products recalled under various brand names – you can find a full list here.

All recalled products have a Fresh Creative Cuisine label and/or identifier on the bottom of the label with the Fresh Creative Cuisine name, and a fresh through or sell through date ranging from January 31, 2023 through February 6, 2023.

What Are Listeria Monocytogenes?

Listeria monocytogenes are pathogenic bacteria that can cause serious illness and can be fatal in people with compromised immune systems like older adults, children under six years of age and people with a weakened immune system. Healthy folks may exhibit short term symptoms like high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. It is especially concerning for pregnant women as it can lead to miscarriages and stillbirths, especially during the third trimester.

What Should You Do If You Find Recalled Food?

If you identify a food in your home that has been recalled, do not eat it; do not donate it to a food bank; do not feed it to your pets (they can get sick from it, too) and do not open it.

Instead, do contact the store you bought it from for a full refund; contact Fresh Ideation Food Group, LLC directly at (855) 969-3338, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET; or contact Daniele International, LLC at (401) 568-6228 or receptionist@charcuterie.com.

Be sure to toss the product out, and always wash your hands properly after handling the recalled food.
